POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Open Pit Mine Excavator Operator is responsible for operating excavators and other heavy equipment used in mineral extraction.
This professional must ensure all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

DETAILs OF POSITION:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate excavators and other digging equipment in accordance with operational and safety procedures.
• Perform daily inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Report any defects or repair needs to the immediate supervisor.
• Strictly follow all workplace safety norms and procedures.
• Participate in safety training and team meetings.
• Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
• Ensure efficient excavation and removal of materials, minimizing waste and downtime.
• Coordinate with other operators and support teams to optimize mining operations.
• Maintain accurate records of daily operational and maintenance activities.
• Complete production and incident reports as necessary.

• Ability to operate various types of excavators and digging equipment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in mining.
• Good motor coordination and manual skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.
• Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Responsibility and commitment to safety.
• Teamwork and effective communication.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and noisy work environments.
• Need to travel to remote areas depending on the mine’s location.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 10 years of proven experience operating excavators in mining environmnents.
• Experience in open-pit mines is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical courses in heavy equipment operation or related areas are desirable.
• Ability to operate various types of excavators and digging equipment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in mining.
