    The Senior Finance Officer (SFO) will play a key role in ensuring strategic and operational financial planning, management and reporting to enhance the decision-making process of all projects run by iDE Mozambique in compliance with iDE Policies, donor approved budget and regulations, and to ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles.
    The primary role of the SFO is to manage compliance, accounting, and other financial activities for iDE Mozambique projects. S/He ensures that all financial transactions are in the system in a timely manner to assist management in meeting donor compliance and other statutory
    requirements. S/He is a participant in the management of the day-to-day financial operations at the Country level including perform daily/weekly review and posting of transactions, bank reconciliations, and other adjusting journal entries as well as assigned month end account reconciliations.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Review of transactions and journal entries to ensure that expenditures approved in line with available budget by the designated approving authority and are accurately allocated to projects.
    • Posting of assigned project transactions and journal entries into the financial management system on daily/weekly basis using the correct account codes, project codes and other analysis codes.
    • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and support in month end balance sheet reconciliation activities. Review employees signed Timesheets to projects and ensure time allocations are recorded correctly during the payroll process for the month.
    • Prepare the monthly tax calculations and coordinate submission to the authorities in accordance with the Mozambican laws (IRPS, INSS, IRPC and any other applicable taxes).
    • Review petty cash and bank reconciliations prepared by the field offices and ensure the timely submission before the month end closing.
    • Supervise filing all accounting documents that are systemically organized and appropriately labelled for easy reference.
    • Assist the FAD with Monthly/Quarterly donor reports and annual financial audit.
    • Assist the finance and administration staff in different locations on other daily matter.
    • Any other responsibilities as may be required by the FAD.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES WE LOOK OUT FOR

    • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, graduate degree preferred.
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience in financial management, accounting, and/or auditing.
    • Attention to details and accuracy of transactions.
    • A collaborative approach to working and the ability to thrive in a multi country team.
    • Excited by and open to new ideas and new ways of doing things.
    • Experience working experience with international donors is preferred.
    • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and strong work ethic.
    • Confident, organised, and good communication skills in English and Portuguese Willingness to take on additional areas of responsibility relevant to the role.
    • A high level of commitment to iDE’s values and objectives
    • A highly responsible approach to all tasks
    • Proven experience working with financial management and accounting software.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and preference for Access);
    • Systems thinkers with a problem‐solving skill.
